I truly never thought I would say that I had a delightful experience at a vacuum shop! I had been researching vacuums for some time and was finally ready to buy, but wanted to purchase from a local shop where I could get advice from someone in the business. Martin exceeded my expectations with his knowledge, honesty, and professionalism. He clearly has a passion for helping people find the best fit and took the time to walk me through the pros and cons of different models. There was absolutely zero pressure to buy (although I was very ready because I wanted to take advantage of an active sale), and he even reassured me that for my needs I did not need to buy the more expensive model of the vacuum I was looking at. This is the kind of local business we should all be making an effort to support. Now that I've seen Martin in action, I know where I'll be sending my friends and family (and myself) for vacuum repairs or purchasing!
I brought in my nearly 20-year-old Miele, hoping for a repair after I accidentally damaged it by tripping over the cord—oops! Martin was superb. I always prefer to repair appliances, but after everything I learned from Martin in just 30 minutes—for free!—I realized it was time to let my beloved Miele go. I ended up buying a lower-end Miele from him, and he even gave me three boxes of bags. He kindly asked me never to use generic bags again, explaining that Miele lowered their warranty from 7 years to just 1 year because generic bags can kill the motor—dust gets into the motor and causes overheating due to poor ventilation. Now, I have essentially the same vacuum I bought 20 years ago. With the kids out of the house (and less wear and tear), I hope this one lasts us another 20 years!
