I cannot recommend my family law attorney enough. From the very beginning, he responded quickly and supported me through an extremely difficult domestic violence situation with compassion, professionalism, and genuine care. As a woman navigating both a DV case and now divorce proceedings, feeling safe, heard, and protected was incredibly important to me, and he has consistently provided that time after time. He is not only knowledgeable and strategic, but also kind, patient, and responsive during some of the most stressful moments of my life. He knows the Ventura County family court system intimately, which gave me a tremendous sense of confidence and reassurance throughout the process. I always feel like he truly cares about my wellbeing and my future, not just the legal outcome. Having someone I trust advocating for me has made a huge difference during this process.
Jeffrey did an amazing job with my child support case. He knew exactly what he was doing, stayed on top of everything, and got the child support order in place without letting anything slide. He made a stressful situation so much easier and was always easy to talk to. I’m so grateful for all his hard work and would absolutely recommend Jeffrey to anyone who needs a great family lawyer.
Let's start with the facts, then I'll give my opinion. I hired Mr. Hoffer to represent me in a divorce in 5/24. After filing my paperwork, he was supposed to serve my wife shortly thereafter. Six weeks went by and nothing happened. I contacted him and he said he had a lot going on but would get to it. Eventually he did but that was my first red flag. Then a pattern emerged: it would literally take 3-4 emails to get a response from him. Every time. As you can imagine, that was VERY frustrating. In addition, there was very little education. Most of what I know about the process, I learned from Google University. I thought I should move on but he kept reassuring me that we would wrap things up in 5/25, then 6/25, then 9/25. You get the idea. Then we had a court date in 1/26 where opposing counsel inflated my income by 30% to secure a better judgment for his client but M. Hoffer said nothing. I confronted him afterwards and asked him to get an amendment because the information provided was false. The judge also granted a motion for a vocational assessment for my wife. Several text messages and emails went unanswered. Mr. Hoffer emailed me 2/14/26 to say he was busy in court and would get back to me over the weekend. That was 2 weeks ago. The income adjustment was never done and I just found out from someone else that I no longer qualify for an appeal because I had 10 days after the court date to submit it but it was never done. And the vocational assessment was never ordered. So I'm stuck paying more than I should and the process is taking much longer than it should. Now for my opinion. Communication gets a D-. Education gets a D. I think my case could have been wrapped up by now with an attorney who is timely, attentive, and actually cares. Mr. Hoffer seemed to be going through the motions. I never felt he was fighting for me. There was no sense of urgency to get this done. In the past 30 days, he abandoned me forcing me to seek legal counsel elsewhere. That was my terrible experience so beware.
